Barn Doors design processBarn Doors

When you think of barn doors, your natural inclination may be to envisage a charmingly rustic old door, with peeling paint and exposed timber- grains being re-purposed in a country-cottage style renovation. Just imagine the horse-shoes nailed above an array of pretty potted window boxes and a Laura Ashley print on the curtains.

When we think Barn doors, we don’t think of any of that stuff at all!

We think of modern functional design, with sleek stainless-steel mechanisms and beautifully finished custom timber joinery. Combine some polished edge glass & mirror, bring on modern wallpaper prints and enlarged photographic artworks.  WE WANT TO GET CREATIVE FOR YOU!

The Barn Door Design Process

We start our design process by looking at the placement of the doors and which rooms are being separated. We often take the approach of “one door, two different faces “.

For example, where a door is separating an ensuite bathroom from a master bedroom we regularly fit mirror facing into the bathroom (providing light & the illusion of space) and a laminate or glass panel facing the bedroom, normally looking to compliment other design features within the room.

Recycle Your Building Materials

We look at combining materials already in use within the home, often utilising offcut materials in the process.  We can match up to existing timber joinery & cabinetmaking, or take reference from furniture, flooring, or tongue & groove ceiling panelling.

With our expertise & enthusiasm your top Barn Door will become a feature within its own right.
